Kiplinger, publisher of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine, and the Council of Better Business Bureau Military Line® have announced plans to launch in February 2009 a new financial education initiative for the men and women of the U.S. military. Kiplinger—in collaboration with BBB Military Line—will publish a 20-page booklet offering targeted financial advice and guidance for military personnel and their families. The booklet will be distributed free to more than 700,000 servicemen and women worldwide.

A record number of Americans want to be a part of history and attend the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama but, unfortunately, only 250,000 tickets are up for grabs. While many websites are claiming to sell tickets online, your Better Business Bureau is advising the public that purchasing scalped tickets could leave you out in the cold with empty pockets on Inauguration Day.

Better Business Bureau is alerting consumers and businesses about a phishing scheme that uses both e-mail messages and blog posts directing recipients and viewers to register software with BBB. BBB wants the public to know that such messages and posts are not coming from any element of the BBB System, and that this attack has not affected BBB computer systems or networks nor has any data been comprised.

The Council of Better Business Bureaus today announced the approval of Campbell Soup Company’s amended pledge as a participant in the Children’s Food and Beverage Advertising Initiative. As a result of Campbell’s dedication to providing healthier food options, the company has successfully reformulated 11 of its children’s soups to contain substantially less sodium. The amended advertising pledge made to BBB’s Children’s Food and Beverage Advertising Initiative reflects the progress made in the reformulation of products and includes a more rigorous requirement for sodium content in soups marketed to kids under 12.
